Career Centre

It's 4:00 in the morning and you can't sleep. You turn on your computer and find your career management consultant has emailed you some novel suggestions for improving your résumé and the results of the online assessment tools you completed the day before. You get to work.

Career Partners International (CPI), an affiliate of Dimension 11, recently launched its "high touch", high technology online career centre to meet the needs of career transition candidates. People appreciate the immediacy, efficiency and expertise, while benefiting from the personal input and partnership of a career expert.

What makes our online career centre stand apart from others is the strong integration of consultant input and the latest technology available to conduct a web-based job search. Our consultants can advise candidates on any aspect of their search or career change and on any aspect of the process, from anywhere in the world.

All activities on the online career centre are driven by the candidate, at his or her own pace, and are strongly enhanced by the guidance, feedback, personal interest and partnership of the career consultant. We strongly believe that human touch is a critical part of helping individuals deal with the stress and emotional upheaval associated with job loss.

Career centre features

CPI's online career centre is highly interactive and highly activity based. Assessment is accomplished by completing industry-leading inventories online and reviewing their results and implications with a consultant either in person, over the phone or via email.

Candidates prepare their résumé by completing steps in a "résumé generator" and submitting the résumé draft to their consultant, who edits and strengthens the document.

Instructional modules teach candidates strategies and techniques needed to implement an effective job search. One module not only presents valuable information on interviewing, but allows the consultant to "listen" to how candidates might answer interview questions, then give necessary feedback for improvement.

It allows us, as career management consultants, to point out self-defeating behaviours that may be sabotaging a job search and suggest productive ways to make better career choices. With feedback and encouragement, a candidate who feels stuck or derailed can move forward.

The online career centre is really a personal coach for career planning. It's the personal touch of the consultant that lends a striking added dimension to the technology.
