Solutions to the Labour Shortage . . . Recruitment and Temporary Staffing
With today's labour shortage, it’s a challenge to find employees. In the last few issues we discussed skills training, immigrants and aboriginals, and hopefully you’ve found some tips to help.
Sometimes, though, the difficulty is finding anyone at all. If this is your challenge, perhaps it’s time to look at a recruitment agency. Here are questions to consider:
- Do they have credibility—have they had success with other organizations?
- Do they look at the culture of your organization?
- Do they look at your corporate needs surrounding the position you are trying to fill?
- Do they ask lots of questions to understand your organization and needs?
- Do they provide post-hiring support to the new employee and the manager?
- Do they provide a guarantee?
These are vital areas that should be addressed to ensure your hiring outcomes are satifactory. If you need assistance in this area or have questions, call Dimension 11 at 306-586-2315 or 800-303-2315 to talk about how they can make your recruitment easier.
Another avenue to look at is temporary staffing for the short term. Here are some things to consider before deciding if you need full-time or part-time personnel.
- Do I need a full-time person to achieve this goal?
- How would the job get done if I hire a part-time person?
- How much time do I have to train this person? The less time you have the more difficult it is to have a part-time person on site.
- When will I need to fill the position on a full-time basis?
- Can I hire a part-timer as a permanent full-time employee if I need that down the road?
- What are the parameters to do this?
If you need assistance or have questions, call ITG Staffing Solutions at 306-787-8367. They would love to chat about the services they provide and how they might meet your needs.

Have a Presentation? Don’t Croak!
It’s cold and flu season, which can wreak havoc on your voice. If you have to speak, present or sing and your voice isn’t up to par, no need to croak. Try these tips from a professional speaker. Your dulcet tones will ring forth:
- Gargle a solution of 10 Bayer Aspirin dissolved in ¼ c warm water (gross, but it works!)
- Swallow a teaspoon of olive oil (again...gross)
- Thayers Slippery Elm tablets – these can be found in health food stores (yummy)
- Fresh mint, ginger, orange zest, and honey steeped in boiling water (don’t burn yourself...that will cancel out all the good effects!)
