Taking the Reins . . . Build Your Leadership Qualities and Get Ahead
It’s a new year. Make any resolutions? Maybe you’ve decided to explore various aspects of your career, gaining momentum to get further ahead. Maybe you want to give back to the community more by volunteering. Maybe you want to spend more time with your family and friends? Developing your leadership abilities will help you in all these areas. How so?
You encounter many situations daily when you need to get buy-in from other people so plans can move forward and goals can be accomplished. That is, in essence, leadership . . . getting things accomplished through other people. Can you see where these skills can be applied? How about in:
- helping organize fundraising for your child's class;
- taking charge of a project at work;
- getting all the family together at the same time in the same place;
- helping people accept and adjust to a change in program or process.
Building your leadership abilities will help you through these situations and more. So make an investment in yourself. Commit to growing your leadership potential. It will take you far.
Join us in the next few months as Knight Views will feature a series of leadership articles which will give you some tips and ideas on building your leadership quotient. We'll explore:
- inspiring people
- modeling the desired behaviour (not "do as I say, not as I do")
- communicating effectively
- presenting the right image
- authenticity, and more.
If there’s something you’ve wondered about, please let us know what it is; we’ll try to address it in a future article. Come back next month and make some of those resolutions realities.

How Does a Free Cruise Sound?
Right now, Sherry, President of Dimension 11, is on a cruise with her husband . . . free of charge! How’d she pull that off? She went through a program called “Speak and Cruise Free” by Daniel Hall. Daniel gives all the tips and inside information so that anyone can have this opportunity. By presenting just three one-hour sessions to fellow cruisers, Sherry and John are spending the rest of their week relaxing and enjoying themselves, for free.
Don't think you have to be a professional speaker. Anyone who has a hobby, craft, or knowledge of cruise destinations can do this. If you want to find out how you can do this, Daniel Hall will be in Regina on February 2 presenting his program. Contact Sherry for more information (sherry@dimension11.com or 306-586-2315) . . . she’ll be back soon and would love to help you cruise free, too! Wouldn’t that make the winter easier to bear? |
